May Botz has spent the last ten years as a New York City based freelance photographer and photography teacher. After countless friends asked her to photograph their weddings, and finding it to be fun and creative, she decided to launch “May Wedding Photography.” With May, couples are not just getting a wedding photographer, they’re getting the trained eye of an artist. May quietly captures intimate moments and stories as they unfold. Her style blends art with photojournalism, rendering images that are carefully composed and candid. You can relax and enjoy your wedding, fully assured that May will professionally capture the uniqueness and beauty of your day.
May earned a B.F.A. in photography from Maryland Institute College of Art and an M.F.A. from Bard College. She has garnered numerous awards and her fine art photographs are internationally exhibited. Her photographs have been published in New York Magazine, Metropolis, The New York Times and Blackbook. She is a recipient of fellowships at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, Germany, and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine. May is a photography instructor at Cooper Union and The International Center of Photography. She is a member of The Wedding Photojournalist Association - www.wpja.org.
